The U-18s of The Football Link faced their first setback of the season in their encounter against KDF. The boys went into the game drawing 1-1 in the second game week against OSA and the pressure was high as Shubham Gandas and Anshul Patel were not available against KDF. With a twitch in formation, the coach devised a plan to tactically contain the opponents.
The SQUAD360 boys displayed amazing grit and determination before conceding a goal due to the goalkeeper’s error. The U-18s did not lose hope and bounced back showcasing a spectacular range of passes and teamwork. The midfield trio of Lakshay Sarraf, Rishabh Agarwal and Devansh Verma danced their way to their penalty box before Devansh Verma slid a pass through the defence to Jasraj Sehmbey, before the latter slot past the opponent goalkeeper clinically. Nearing the end of first half, the defense line lost its focus and conceded another before the break.
The U-18s went in the second half with confidence and penetrated the opponent’s half multiple times but to no end result. The opponents capitalized on the missed chances and extended their lead. Karan Ale and Akshay Sharma courageously put their bodies on the line in defence to keep the team in the game. The SQUAD360 academy lads lost their steam towards the end and conceded another to make the final score 4-1. A well contested game, the boys gave their best but fell short due to finishing. A wake up call nonetheless, to come back harder and stronger in the next game.
